The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) is committed to promoting and supporting disadvantaged business enterprises (DBE) in Connecticut, which are defined as state-certified women-owned, minority-owned or veteran-owned businesses.
On August 28, 2024, the CAA hosted its annual Diversity in Contracting event at the New England Air Museum. The CAA invites outside contractors and consultants that work at Bradley International Airport and the CAA’s five general aviation airports. These small businesses specialize in construction, engineering, planning and security technology.
This event creates meaningful networking by allowing disadvantaged business enterprises to engage directly with those companies that work with the CAA, which could lead to work opportunities. Those in attendance from disadvantaged business enterprises were able to learn more about upcoming projects and when they should bid on them as part of the CAA’s procurement process.
The event was well attended and resulted in positive feedback from all of the participants.
