In partnership with Atlantic Aviation and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, we were thrilled to commemorate the opening of the airport’s new U.S. Customs facility.
The custom-built, state-of-the-art, 4,000-square-foot facility features briefing rooms, holding areas and closed-interview capabilities. Most importantly, it offers international travelers a time-saving alternative to other U.S. Customs gateways in the region.
“The time savings and convenience this new facility creates for our customers is significant,” said Shawn Rose, Area Director for Atlantic Aviation. “Being able to now clear customs at Waterbury-Oxford, rather than other high traffic airports in the region, will be much easier for virtually any flight transiting the border,” he continued.
The facility was funded in part by Atlantic Aviation as a component of the company’s on-going commitment to invest in facilities and enhance the customer experience for both domestic and international fliers. It was also made possible through close collaboration with both the Connecticut Airport Authority and CBP.
“This opening of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility marks a significant milestone in the continued growth of Waterbury-Oxford Airport,” said Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Connecticut Airport Authority. “It opens the doors to more international travel and provides a seamless experience to those traveling for business or leisure purposes. We thank U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Atlantic Aviation for their partnership in making this enhancement a reality.”
“We’re excited to partner with the local community to bring CBP resources and innovation to a local airport. This new facility will undoubtedly help improve the traveler experience in Waterbury/Oxford,” added Russell McInnis, Service Area Port Director for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
